From March 22 to 25, 2021, Quint Buchholz will be teaching a painting class titled “Picture Stories” at the Hanover Art Factory (Kunstfabrik Hannover).

The annual course catalog for 2021 will be released at the end of September and can be ordered or downloaded on the Art Factory’s website. It contains a detailed course description, as well as more information about course fees and registration.

Since 2015, Luis Sepúlveda’s The Story of a Snail Who Discovered the Importance of Being Slow — a world author’s love declaration for the inconspicuous and the slow — has been seducing readers big and small into deceleration and mindfulness. Recently, these classic topics have yet gained in importance.

On August 26, 2020, half a year after the Chilean author’s premature death, the Fischer/Sauerländer publishing house launched a new pocket edition of the story about a small, inquisitive snail on a big expedition that ponders why she is so slow.

A book for all dreamers and those searching for happiness. Together with its tender colorful illustrations by Quint Buchholz, it invites its readers to pause for a moment — and opens many unknown perspectives.

“Blutenburg Summer Stage” is a culture program of the International Youth Library Foundation of Blutenburg Castle that will really make you forget the current restrictions on cultural life.

From July 12 to September 6, 2020 a large number of different open air events will take place in the castle courtyard (or at Jella Lepman Hall in case of bad weather) every day and evening. There will be readings, plays and concerts for children, adolescents and adults.

Among many artists like Paul Maar, Erhard Dietl, and the TangoBravo group, Quint Buchholz will also be participating. Accompanied by live music by Juli Linden (violin) and Anna Rehker (cello), he will be reading a “Praise of Slowness”: stories and poems by Johann Wolgang Goethe, Mascha Kaléko, Toni Morrison, Theodor Storm, W. C. Williams, and many others.

An evening for calming down and taking the time to fully indulge in summer’s pleasures. More information about the event (in German) as well as a registration link can be found on the International Youth Library’s website.

On Thursday, May 14, 2020 Quint Buchholz was interviewed by Wolfgang Heim for SWR1’s “People” radio show.

The German Academy for Children’s and Adolescent’s Literature of the St. Michael’s Association celebrated World Book Day (April 2020) with an online reading series .

On May 4, Quint Buchholz was invited to the show and recited from his Sleep Well, Little Bear (Hanser, 2011). The reading (in German) can still be watched online, here on our website or on Youtube.

In times of cancelled cultural events the Bavarian Broadcasting Service (Bayerischer Rundfunk) is communicating in different ways with those hungry for culture. On the newly created website “Culture Stage”, much is offered to entertain, inform and give incentive for reflection.

Right now, three pictures out of the newest books by Quint Buchholz are exhibited there, pictures from The Ocean Book (Insel-Bücherei) and To Everything There is a Season (Hanser). Three wonderful little texts, meditations on time and quietness by Niels Beintker, form the commentary.

It is definitely worth dropping by and having a little look around!

From November 15 to December 20, 2020, the Villa Maria gallery in Upper Bavarian Bad Aibling is once again exhibiting paintings by Quint Buchholz.

The exhibition will feature almost exclusively new works produced in the past four years, including some original pictures from this year’s two new books “The Ocean Book” and “To Everything There is a Season”.

The vernissage can unfortunately not take place as planned due to the current situation. However, this coming Sunday, November 15, the gallery will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Quint Buchholz will be present all day. Moosach’s Pelkoven Castle and bookstore Blattgold are currently hosting the “Mooshow Special”: an online series of cultural events that can be streamed online.

On Friday, April 3, Quint Buchholz read a 45 minute “Praise of Slowness”, which included texts from his newer books (“To Everything There Is a Season”, “The Ocean Book”, and others). He also showed a number of his pictures.

At this time of closed bookstores and cancelled readings the Munich-based bookshop Buchpalast is launching a special Easter offer for Quint Buchholz’s three newest publications.

Quint Buchholz has hand-signed and added a little drawing to ten copies of each book, „The Bliss of Slowness“ (2019), „To Everything There Is a Season“ (2020) and „The Ocean Book“ (2020). They will be shipped to customers on a first-come, first-serve basis.
