Sleep Well, Little Bear

On 26th September 2011 Quint Buchholz' classic picture book "Sleep Well, Little Bear" was re-published in a new edition by Hanser Verlag.
The book, first published in 1993, was among those shortlisted for the German Prize for Childrens' Literature (Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis). The American edition was chosen as the New York Times' "Outstanding Book of the Year".
At the time Siggi Seuss wrote in his report for Luchs 83 of Die Zeit/Radio Bremen:"For the fleeting observer the effect Quint Buchholz conjours into the pictures through his play with light and shade, the matt colour tones, the unusual perspectives, may seem of only marginal importance. But for the reader - the reader aloud - who finds his early dreams unearthed by the story, they are a confirmation of the all too easily forgotten knowledge that there is a world well worth living in, there between us and the near horizon."
On the website of Hanser Verlag you find an Interview with Quint Buchholz by Siggi Seuss in German as PDF.
New editions of the book are also published in Spain by Lóguez and in France by Edition Milan. And there is an Italian edition for the first time, published by Editore Beisler entitled "Dormi bene, orsacchiotto mio".
